What is a woman made to be? Part 3

3 women

Knowing God’s desire for us as women (continued)

Good day everyone! Let us continue to look at godly versus worldly woman characteristics. You can find parts one and two of this study by reviewing the posts below this on the Home page.

Worldly woman characteristics:
Vain: Excessive focus on adorning the external in order to attract the opposite sex or admire her own beauty.  Gives more thought to the outward appearance rather than the condition of the heart and godly character. She is selfish and seeks her own end.

Godly woman characteristics:
Generous of heart: She knows that true beauty comes from godly character. She gives to others and does not keep account of her generosity.  She understands that she is blessed (given things from God) so that she can bless others freely.  Also, because she knows what she would like for herself, she knows what would please others.

Prov 31:30; 20 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. 20 She extends her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.

1Pet 3:3-4 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

1 Sam 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Worldly woman characteristics
Controlling: She likes to be the number one authority on everything.  Her way is the only way! She does not listen to wise counsel or respect authority over her.  She gets bitter or angry when she is challenged or overruled i.e. the “my way or the highway” mentality.

Godly woman characteristics
Teachable/Respects Authority: Able to take direction and advice that is given by God in various circumstances.  She is able to listen and do what is asked of her without becoming bitter or resentful.

Prov 1:5 A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel.

Prov 9:9 Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.

James 1:20 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Romans 13:1- 2 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.

Worldly woman characteristics
Excessively meticulous/fussy: Likes everything in a specific or precise order, according to her plans and gets anxious, offended or angry if it does not happen that way.

Godly woman characteristics
Good time Manager/balanced: She thinks ahead and manages her time well but submits her plans to God and therefore can be flexible to adjust where necessary and make sacrifices to accomplish the goals.

Prov 16: 1, 3 and 9  1 The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.  3 Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established. 9 A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.

Phil 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

Parts one, two and three were all to highlight that we, as women of God, are to have the same heart as a man who loves God.  We are also to know how God has placed or ordered us in His creation. This will bring peace and true happiness to us because we will not be fighting against God.   Parts two and three show us that sin in a woman or man is deadly and brings separation and division among us.  However, in identifying some of the areas Satan can use women, we can examine the opposite and learn what God intended for us to be as women.  We are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made- here to do mighty and good things in the name of the Lord.
