The unconditional, unfathomable, everlasting love of God.
Stop for one moment and meditate on the love of God. Takes more than a minute, doesn’t it? It is quite possible that our human minds cannot fully wrap themselves around the totality of God’s love. What it means to each of us; how it manifests in our lives.
God’s love is not man’s love and thus we must be conscious not to view it in the same light. Imagine if you will, being totally forgiven and your record wiped clean. No matter what we have done. There is no guilt, no condemnation, no remembering and bringing up of past faults. We do that to ourselves and to each other.
It is the foundation of our faith. His love played out in the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. It is the hope on which we stand and which keeps us going. We cannot escape the love of God and He will always love us.
His love meets our needs, encourages us, disciplines us, guides us, has mercy on us, does not give up on us, preserves us.
He tells us this in His word:
Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit
Romans 8:39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Eph 3:17-19 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Deut 23:5 Nevertheless the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam, but the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you.(emphasis by author)
Psalm 52:8 (NIV) But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love forever and ever.
Psalm 89:33 (NIV) but I will not take my love from him, nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.
From Genesis to Revelation, the word of God reveals His feelings for us. We must take the time to search and allow our hearts to be changed by the fullness of His love.
Father, by your words and by your actions, you have shown that you love me. That is enough to give me hope and joy. May I live as one who knows your love and in turn, show that love to others. In Jesus’ name , Amen.
