..So the sun stood still

Joshua 10:12-13 On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.” So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar.

Joshua was in a fierce battle. The Lord had promised Israel victory over their enemies and they were winning because God was fighting for them. Then, Joshua in a daring and faith-filled move, asked God, in the hearing of the whole of Israel to let the sun stand still..and God did it. What a miracle!!

I probably would have prayed a prayer like that in my heart or in the privacy of my home (lol), certainly not in front of a whole army!! It just goes to show how much faith and confidence Joshua had in God’s ability to answer his prayer. The possibility of it not happening probably never occurred to him..after all, God had shown that He was with them, on their side, fighting and conquering their enemies. Joshua’s faith in God had grown and he believed God would do the impossible.

This encourages us to pray always and to pray all kinds of prayers with confidence in a God who has proven himself to be our Victor!! Today I want to encourage you, and myself, not just to pray the “Lord help me” prayers, but daring,  bold, “push the envelope” prayers. Take the word of God and pray all that it says over your life and circumstances. Believe God for what’s seemingly impossible and keep praying about it until God answers. Receiving the seemingly impossible IS OUR MIRACLE, just as Joshua and the whole of Israel witnessed the sun standing still. With God, all things are possible, if we believe!

More verses for encouragement:

Eph 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

1 Thess 5: 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Is 62: 6-7 I have posted watchmen (prayer warriors) on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth.

I came across this awesome quote yesterday and want to share it with you..Keep praying and pray daring prayers!!
