Staying true

Ps 119:11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

These are troubling and worrying times. Ebola, Chikungunya, ISIS! Where did all these come from all of a sudden?

The bible warns us that in the last days, dangerous times will come but not just dangerous times…dangerous people!

2 Tim 3 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

It’s hard not to notice the decline in humanity! In television programs, the music, people’s general attitudes towards one another. Nudity in the name of art is popular, with music videos with this content at well over 100 million views! The love of self and money is in our workplaces and even our churches! If you watch some of these religious programs, very little of true doctrine is taught, the messages are carefully tailored to lead you to a place of “planting your seed!”. While some of these things are quite obvious, others are not and we need to ask God for the discernment of His Spirit.

God has clearly moved out of our societies and I dare say many of our churches! Self and money are the gods and any, everything and everyone is fair game!

Yet, what are we to be like?
Vs 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.

What have we learned?
Vs 15-17
.. you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

God’s desire for us in these times is that we KNOW the Word that gives wisdom and equips us to do His good work! His good work is obedience, thanksgiving, humility, holiness! Raising our families and conducting our affairs on this earth in a godly manner..not being corrupted by the gods of this age.

It is the only way, we can stay true to His values. Yes, the Spirit does help us in our weakness but we must..for want of a better phrase..give Him something to work with! We MUST read and study His word.

David said..
Ps 119:11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. Ps 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

I want encourage you today to be steadfast in your study and application of God’s holy scriptures in your lives..and to “stay true” in these dangerous times!

Lord help us in these times to stay true to You and to Your word. Help us to be diligent in studying it and give us understanding. Help us also not just to be hearers but doers, applying faith and practicing the things we have heard in your word! Amen

Have a wonderful weekend!
